Children in Barnsley can continue their education at Horizon Community College and the outstanding Barnsley College, while Rotherham’s St Bernard’s Catholic High School also gets top marks from Ofsted. The same goes for Tapton School and Notre Dame High School, which are both on the outskirts of Sheffield. 

How are the South Yorkshire transport links?


There’s a strong selection of transport links across the county, with lots of bus and train routes for getting to other parts of Yorkshire and beyond. Trains from Sheffield to Leeds, for example, take less than 40 minutes, while it’s two hours down to London. The M1 motorway is convenient if you have car, while the M18 and A1(M) also pass through South Yorkshire, as well as the M180 for a short time. 

What is the South Yorkshire property scene like?


House prices in South Yorkshire are significantly lower than the national average, although hotspots like Sheffield have higher prices than elsewhere.
