You (and all others you are buying with) must:
1. be aged 18 or older;
2. all be first-time buyers;
3. have a combined gross household income of no more than £80,000 per year;
4. be able to fund your purchase with a mortgage (not a buy-to-let mortgage) or home purchase plan, for at least 50% of the discounted purchase price;
5. intend to use the First Homes property as your only home/main residence, and
6. meet the Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council’s local eligibility criteria, which requires Your or at least one of the buyers, to either:-
(a) have a Local Connection, so:
- currently lives or has (within the last three years) lived in the Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council’s administrative area, for a continuous period of not less than one year; or
- was resident in the Rotherham Metropolitan Borough before leaving to pursue a higher/further education course, and is applying for a First Homes Property within 3 years after their exit/graduation from that higher/further education course;
- is permanently employed or is able to demonstrate that they are in a contract with an employer in the Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council’s administrative area;
OR
(b) be an Armed Services Member, meaning either:
- a member of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Royal Air Force or the British Army (the ‘Armed Services’); or
- a former member (within the last 5 years before purchasing a First Homes property) of the Armed Services; or
- a divorced or separated, spouse or civil partner of a member of the Armed Services; or
- a spouse or civil partner of a deceased former member of the Armed Services whose death was caused wholly/partly by their service.
