Things to see and do in North Yorkshire


Whether you’re getting back to nature or you never left it in the first place, North Yorkshire is packed with stunning beauty spots such as Nidderdale, North Riding Forest Park and the Howardian Hills. You can spend weeks exploring the North York Moors and never get close to seeing it all, while the same goes for the expansive Yorkshire Dales.

Education


As such a large county, it stands to reason there are lots of great schools across North Yorkshire. Western Primary in Harrogate is one of these. It’s classed as outstanding by Ofsted, along with Hempland Primary in York. Linthorpe’s St Edward’s RC Primary is another outstanding option if you live in the Middlesbrough area. 

If your kids are older or you have one eye on the future, one of the county’s top performing secondaries is Ripon Grammar School. It’s also outstanding according to the education board, while Harrogate’s St Aidan’s CofE, Richmond’s St Francis Xavier School and Ryedale School in York are all in the same bracket. 

Transport links in North Yorkshire


Large swathes of North Yorkshire are dominated by the Dales and North York Moors, but there are transport links for getting both to and around them, including a selection of bus and rail routes. The A1(M) also runs through the heart of the county, which heads south to Leeds and north towards Middlesbrough and Newcastle. The rest of the county is served by a network of A roads, including the A171 which runs along the coast.
