It may have a reputation as a vibrant seaside resort, but Brighton is also a great place to live for families on account of its excellent local schools. St Paul’s Church of England Primary School

Only a few hundred metres from Brighton’s main train station, St Paul’s CofE is one of the area’s top-rated primaries based on attainment levels in SATs results. One of the best primary schools Brighton plays host to, it has a capacity of around 200 and a pupil-to-teacher ratio of 20.

Carlton Hill Primary School

Less than a mile to the east, Carlton Hill is next door to the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity and Tarner Park, while Queen’s Park is only a short stroll away. It also caters for around 200 pupils and is one of the best primary schools in the city when it comes to exam results.

St Luke’s Primary School

St Luke’s is just the other side of Queen’s Park from Carlton Hill Primary and rated as outstanding by Ofsted. It’s quite a large school with a capacity of more than 600, although attainment levels are still very strong, as there are only around 21 pupils per teacher.

Downs Infant and Junior Schools

Sitting right across the street from each other along Ditchling Road, a stone’s throw from London Road train station, both Downs’ schools for infants and juniors are classed as outstanding by the education board. With a total population of around 850, kids aged five can start at the school for little ones first, before moving on to the junior school at seven.

High Cliff Academy
